Climb Your Heart Out with Banff’s Via Ferrata!
When hiking a mountain becomes repetitive, and it’s time for something a little more intense, a via ferrata tour is exactly what you need. The term “via ferrata” is Italian for “iron road,” and is a fun way to navigate to the top of the mountain. Climb like a mountain goat by taking the scenic and more intense route to the top of Mt. Norquay.
For everyone ages 12 and up, this Banff Adventures trip will make you appreciate your view from the top of the mountains so much more. With five different trips for all different levels and time commitments, the via ferrata tour gives you the opportunity to climb the face of Mt Norquay in a unique and fun way. Banff Adventures recently added a new route, giving us a total of five different journeys that range between two and a half to six hours of activity. Departure times are staggered throughout the day so that you can choose the time slot that works best for you and your group. For beginners, try the Explorer Route, which comes with a 2.5-hour trek on the via ferrata trail and still leaves you with plenty of time to tour the town and take part in any other activities you had planned. If you’ve got time and you are in good shape, Skyline or Summiteer goes for 5 and 6 hours, respectively. Choose these for a more in-depth experience.

How to Prepare for Your Trip
We recommend wearing clothing that will allow your skin to breathe and gives you a full range of motion. Please wear sturdy hiking boots that have been worn enough not to cause extreme discomfort. If you are one to snack, bringing energy bars along with your lunch is a smart decision. And always bring ample water to last you the way there and back.
The whole time you are climbing, you’ll have safety equipment and a qualified guide leading you. We will assist you in your journey, and you will remain clipped to the guide ropes at all times, but please be aware that this climb is physically demanding. If you and your group are all over the age of 12 and reasonably fit, you will be prepared for this trip.
