3 Fun Things to Do in Banff This Winter with Friends
When winter comes along, it can be hard to plan group activities for everyone that aren’t impacted by the cold weather and darker skies. However, there’s plenty to do in Banff for those who are more adventurous and outdoorsy!
At Banff Adventures, we offer several packages, activities, and excursions ideal for small and big friend groups. Go Ice Fishing
If you enjoy fishing during the summer, why not try your hand at some arctic angling? Ice fishing is best enjoyed in groups, where you’ll get to share your catch and have it cooked up by our professional guides. You’ll meet your tour guide in Canmore, where you’ll drive to the beautiful Spray Lakes for a full morning on the ice.
Your fishing spot will include a heated hut to ensure you stay warm and comfortable while you fish, eat, and visit. Don’t worry about finding the right rod and reel- we provide all the equipment you’ll need. Just make sure you have your fishing license ready to go!

Embrace the Powder in Snowshoes
Snowshoeing is a classic Canadian pastime that everyone should try, and it’s made even more fun with friends! We offer snowshoeing tours at three locations through Banff Adventures - Paint Pots, Lake Louise, and Sunshine Village.
We offer two different packages for our Lake Louise snowshoeing: the Scenic snowshoe tour and the Wildlife tour. On the Scenic tour, you’ll ascend to the top of the Grizzly Gondola before shoeing down the hill. Don’t worry if you’ve never snowshoed before - our instructors will be there every step of the way! Make sure to bring plenty of snacks and water for the group to share, and don’t forget your camera - the gorgeous Rocky Mountain backdrop will make the perfect group photo!
Race Down the Hill in a Snowtube!
If you’re not ready to try your hand at more complex sports like skiing or snowboarding, you can get just as much of a thrill from snow tubing down a hill. It’s similar to tobogganing, except you don’t have to get yourself back up the hill- we have a special rig system that will pull you up! If you’re going with your friend group, you can even link your snow tubes and go down the hill together.
We offer two snow tubing excursions at Banff Adventures - one at Mt. Norquay and one at Lake Louise. You can tube at Mt. Norquay in the morning, afternoon, or evening, allowing you to fit it in with other events you may have planned for the day!
