What to Know Before Booking
Before you book your dogsledding adventure, there are a few things you should keep in mind to ensure your party is adequately prepared and looked after during the tour. When you go to select your tour, consider the following:
Considerations for the Family
People of all ages can enjoy dogsledding! Whether you want to enjoy this excursion as a couple or bring the whole family along, this is a safe and exciting activity for everyone. However, if you have particularly younger or older people in your party, make sure to keep tabs on the temperature to prevent them from getting too cold. Further, if you’re doing a full family excursion, you’ll have to rent multiple sleds. Our dogsleds are for a maximum of two people and can’t exceed 380 lbs in supported weight.
Bring Warm Layers
Dogsledding during an Alberta winter means one thing- cold. Make sure to pack plenty of warm clothes for your dogsledding tour! We don’t permit blue jeans, t-shirts, or sneakers. Instead, we ask that you wear multiple layers, including thermal wool underwear, insulated wind-proof parkas, a warm, wind-proof hat, a neck tube or scarf, warm mitts, and winter boots. Bundle up as warm as you can so you can fully enjoy the tour!
Our Dogsledding Tours
At Banff Adventures, we offer three main dogsledding tours to give you the adventure of a lifetime. Whether you want to mush through the mountains or traverse the border of Alberta and BC, we have the tour for you! Each tour comes with complimentary hot beverages and snacks for extra coziness. You also have the option to help harness, hook up, and drive the dog team with the assistance of your experienced guide.
Great Divide Dogsled
The Great Divide dogsled tour takes you up to the Continental Divide, which acts as the border of Alberta and BC and North America’s main watershed division. Throughout the Lake Louise excursion, your guide will highlight all the beautiful natural landmarks, from glaciers to mountain peaks. This sledding tour is perfect for adventurers who want to try mushing!
Mountain Musher Dogsled Tour
Our Mountain Musher dogsled excursion takes you down the Kananaskis Spray Lakes. As you drive along, you’ll see an interesting change in terrain—you’ll feel like you’re in the Arctic! There will be plenty of opportunities to capture photos of this cool location in between the sledding.
Unleash the Musher Dogsled Tour
If you’ve always wanted to explore a mountain trail, our Unleash the Musher dogsled tour is the ideal pick! On this tour, you’ll be picked up from Canmore and driven through the gorgeous Spray Lakes mountain trails by a team of 5 to 7 Huskies.
